Have fun with creating DIY chemistry-based beauty products. Engaging hands-on chemistry projects will encourage girls (and Moms too!) to create formulas and make your own cool products to take home. First we'll learn that a chemical reaction occurs when one substance interacts with another and a bubbly change occurs. Moms and girls will both make some scented bath bombs to see chemical reactions in action!
Next, we'll investigate the science of soap. Teams will create their own scented soap and learn that soap molecules are long chains of carbon and hydrogen. We will also learn about surface tension and how it is affected by soap. Study how some substances are water-loving and others are water-hating, and how an emulsifier is able to carry away dirt and oil. A fun, fizzy time to share!
